The park around the castle Erdödy
The town of Jastrebarsko is located 30 kilometres south-west from Zagreb, the capital of the Republic of Croatia. Jastrebarsko is administrative and tourist centre of one of the most picturesque parts of the Zagreb County – the massive of Plešivica hills. This area is the most significant wine region of the central Croatia, and at the same time it is an important commercial and crafts centre. The town of Jastrebarsko, with all its urban and rural traditions, and with pristine natural beauties, is most certainly one of the brightest jewels of Croatia.
Jastrebarsko is connected with other parts of Croatia, and with Europe as well, with modern highway. In less than 8 hours of travelling by car or by train one can reach all Central European towns, while 6 hours is enough to reach the most distant town in Croatia. However, the most common business routes and destinations are reached within an average of 2–3 hours of safe driving on Croatian highway network.
There are 59 settlements in the town area, inhabited with over 17.000 inhabitants. In the town’s centre lives about 6.000 inhabitants.
The area of the town of Jastrebarsko is spread on 229 km².
Jastrebarsko High School, alongside its economic and gymnasium programme, educates pupils for salesmen, car mechanics, locksmiths and plumbers as well.

Jastrebarsko was first mentioned in the year 1249, as trading and legal centre, in the document of count (ban) Stjepan. The abbreviated name Jaska comes from customary shortening of names and can be found in ancient Latin documents.
At the request of Jaska inhabitants, on January 12th 1257 king Bela IV awarded Jastrebarsko with the privilege of free royal trading town. In 1257 Jastrebarsko, as a trading town, got its coat of arms – in blue, a hawk in natural colours, turned to the right, which is in use even today.

Business Zone Jalševac, with the area of 300 ha, is located on the route of the Pan-European Transport Corridor 5B, right next to the highway Rijeka – Zagreb – Budapest (E-65, E–71, Croatian marking of the route A1). By getting off from the highway you come directly into the Zone. It is 20 km away from Zagreb, 120 km away from the port of Rijeka, 300 km from Split and 100 km from the state border with Hungary. It is just one kilometre away from the international railway line M202, with direction Zagreb – Rijeka – Split.
In choosing which every year organizes a special edition of the Financial Times for foreign direct investment, 2012. year on a scale of ten towns, seventh place was taken by the town Jastrebarsko.
